Neko Games, an Argentine gaming studio based in Buenos Aires, with a strong presence throughout Latin America and great performance in Spain where it holds the title of TOP 5 among the most played video bingo games in the country, is attentive to the Brazilian market and just waiting for the regulation of sports betting to install offices in the country.
In a conversation with GMB, Sebastian Perrier, co-founder and CEO, says he was impressed with the growth of the Brazilian iGaming Summit (BiS) and that the information released by the authorities during the event shows that regulation is getting closer.
GMB – How is Neko Games' business in Brazil and what does this market mean for you?
Sebastian Perrier – Brazil is a market with great potential for everyone. We are very excited to work in the country and see how the regulation will come about so that we can offer our games, which I'm sure will be a success, as they are bingo games.
Did you imagine such success for BiS?
With all the talk about regulation and the size of Brazil, I knew it would be a success, but it exceeded my expectations. We were there last year and I believe it doubled in size in this edition, with a lot of people waiting to enter, and with excellent lectures.
Were the positions of the authorities consistent and important to you?
What the authorities are saying year after year becomes increasingly encouraging. The regulation is still not concrete and with a specific date, but every year it is clear that we are going to reach a good port.
So you believe that regulation will come soon?
Yes, and this is unanimous. Everyone who works in this industry believes that regulation is getting closer and closer.
And what will happen to Neko Games when the regulation arrives?
We are working to get known by the whole sector, and when the regulation arrives we will seek all the necessary permissions to offer our games to those who are licensed.
How is the company currently in Brazil?
In Brazil we are still not very well known. We have few games and we would like the sector to know us better. We are doing very well in Latin America and Spain, where we have one of our games in the TOP 5 and we are one of the top game studios in Mexico. Our main focus continues to be LATAM.
Do you intend to set up an office in Brazil when the regulations arrive?
Yes, and I hope we have more than one office as the country is very big. São Paulo is a logical place to be, but we also intend to be in Rio de Janeiro and perhaps elsewhere, with offices to serve our clients.
What is your message for the Brazilian market, which seeks its regulation?
It will be very beneficial for the whole society and for the industry to have a regulation that is clear to the players, as it is all over the world. This is how it works in the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Uruguay and Argentina, just to name a few examples, and the benefits will also reach Brazil.
