Congressman Newton Cardoso again defends gambling legalization in Brazil

Brazilian federal deputy and president of the MDB in Minas Gerais, Newton Cardoso Jr., assured, during an interview with the Alerta Super show, on Super 91.7 FM radio, that he is in favor of the legalization of gambling activity in Brazil as a way of increasing revenue for the State and the country.

Congressman Newton Cardoso Jr (MDB-MG) once again defended the legalization of gambling in Brazil. During a program on Radio Super, in Minas Gerais, the congressman spoke of the presidential succession and support for the candidacy of Simone Tebet, from his party, for the Presidency of the Republic.

As he always does, Newton Cardoso, who actively participated in the Working Group in the Chamber of Deputies in the update of Bill 442/91, said he was in favor of legalizing gambling “because it is an agenda that will allow the opening of a new economic market in the Brazil."

The deputy was one of the parliamentarians who fought the most for the approval of the Bill in the Chamber of Deputies and is now increasingly involved in actions to pressure the Federal Senate to take the discussion forward so that Brazil legalizes the sector in the country.

During the interview, the president of the Minas Gerais MDB reinforced the importance of releasing gambling. For Newton Cardoso, the activity would be a source of revenue for the State and for the country. “I wanted to reiterate my commitment to the development of Minas Gerais, without increasing taxes,” he said.

In his assessment, the topic should return to the Federal Senate due to the strong economic impact of the activity. According to him, the approval of the sector in Brazil “has the potential to generate up to R$ 30 billion (US$ 5.8b) per year,” he defended.
