Online gambling is growing in Portugal and proof of that is the money that it moved in the first six months of this year. Data from the newspaper “Público” released this Saturday (27) based on the Gaming Regulation and Inspection Service, show that between January and June 5 billion euros were made in bets, an average of 28 million euros per day.
Compared to the same period last year, there was a 1 billion euros growth in turnover.
The betting sector has given the fortune tellers a total of €305 million in revenue, with the regulator blocking more than 100 illegal sites.
Investments are mainly made in sports betting, poker and also in slot machines.
In total there are more than 716 thousand registered bettors in Portugal.
