“Paybrokers expects quick regulation to avoid unnecessary discussions”

Paybrokers, a company with a strong presence in payment methods for the sports betting and gaming sector, presented its solutions for the growing industry in Brazil at BFEXPO 2022. In an exclusive conversation with GMB, firm’s CEO Edson Lenzi says he expects a quick regulation of the activity 'so that the players know what the rules are and don't stay in the situation we are in today, which ends up creating gaps for unnecessary discussions.'

Paybrokers, one of the most active payment methods companies for the gaming and sports betting sector, participated in BFEXPO 2022 with the aim of presenting its solutions to the market and to follow the discussions on the regulation of the activity.

Edson Lenzi, CEO of the company, talked with GMB and comments that Paybrokers is in a process of growth, as is the market.

GMB – The payment sector is one of the backbones for sports betting. Is this market growing?
Edson Lenzi –
Yes. This market has grown a lot and every day we are closer to regulation. In fact, without payment, there is no talk of sports betting. It's a very promising market with regulations for next year and with the World Cup coming up, volumes should grow and improve every day.

With all the expertise of Paybrokers in the area of payments, have you contributed to the government from the point of view of information so that it understands how payments are processed, and how the relationship between the bookmaker and the bettor and the bettor with you is?
Clear. All transactions processed are submitted to the Central Bank. This information is detailed by user, by value, average ticket, who is the operator. That is, all of them are reported to the government so that it can create the parameterizations and analyzes for the regulation itself. It is very important for the government to understand how this segment works.

That is, the payment method is not just a small tool. It is important within the process...
Very important and more complex than people usually think. It is not something that is not regulated and supervised or that the Central Bank does not care about. This is monitored daily and we have constant conversations with all the players in the market, financial institutions and foreign exchange. All this is constantly being questioned, improved, understood and explained.

How are you seeing the sports betting regulation process?
The expectation is that it comes out as soon as possible, so that the players know what the well-defined rules are and don't stay in the situation of non-regulation that we are in today, which ends up creating gaps for unnecessary discussions.
