Province of Córdoba in Argentina preselects eight operators for online gaming

Lotería de Córdoba informed on the pre-awarding of licenses to operate online betting in its territory. Although the Argentine province has the capacity to approve 10 companies, it shortlisted only eight as Betway and Skill On Net were excluded for various reasons. Among those that are still in the race for licenses, the participation of international leaders such as Betsson, Intralot, Codere and SG Digital stands out.

Lotería de Córdoba pre-awarded licenses to operate online gaming and sports betting to eight companies. Now, according to the planned process, the term to formulate objections must conclude and, after that step, the concession contracts will be signed.

The eight chosen firms are:

- US firm Rush Street Interactive;

- Compañía de Entretenimientos y Turismo (CET) associated with Daruma Sam;

- Online Córdoba, made up of Casino de Victoria and Swedish giant with a presence in Brazil Betsson;

- Binbaires and Intralot Internacional together with Ondiss;

- Impresora Internacional de Valores (IVISA)- is presented without international partners;

- Iberargen -operator of bingo halls in Buenos Aires province and a brand associated with Spanish multinational Codere;

- Grupo Boldt associated with SG Digital;

- Slots Machines, from the Slots Group.

In this way, two bidders have been excluded for various reasons. First it was the merger between Biyemas and Skill On Net, and now Betway-Picapertor.

For now, it is not known what betting platforms and what types of games the companies will make available to the people of Cordoba. As the authorities explained, this will happen after it is confirmed which of these eight companies will actually be licensees, after next 15 days in which impugnments will be enabled.

It is known that they will not be able to offer "quiniela", which will remain in the hands of the provincial Lottery. However, the range of games is wide and includes sports betting.

According to local councilor Juan Pablo Quinteros, the activity could generate around US$ 112 million a year for the province coffers.

The contracts are expected to be signed on October 11, while the sector would be officially enabled a week later, starting on the 18th of the same month.
