“Estrelabet is consolidated in Brazil and with an eye on new opportunities in Latin America”

Estrelabet, one of the most important sportsbooks in operation in Brazil, was present at recent BFEXPO 2022, with jersey sponsorship to expand brand recognition and get closer to the football industry. In an exclusive talk with GMB, Fellipe Fraga, Estrelabet COO, said the company is ready for regulation and is already studying other markets in Latin America and other continents 'to bring the expertise of the bets we acquired with the Brazilian public.'

Estrelabet's growth is unquestionable with the brand achieving huge recognition in the Brazilian sports betting market. Also, it decided to attend recente BFEXPO 2022 to reinforce the brand concept near football. In the event, the betting house showed the jerseys of the clubs that supports and Fellipe Fraga, firm’s COO, highlighted the pride of being close to important teams, such as America from Rio de Janeiro and Internacional, which has support not only in men, but also a master sponsor for the female team.

GMB - How is Estrelabet doing right now?
Fellipe Fraga
- Estrelabet continues to grow and seek new markets. Each time we find ourselves we talk about the expansion of the company. Our headquarters, in Curaçao, has a good view of the market in the world scenario and the Brazilian experience has been very positive, and with the expectation of regulation it will be even better. Estrelabet is struggling to make this happen as soon as possible to have a fair, clean and regulated market. We are dealing with sports integrity, which is a hyper necessary theme within the world of betting to break prejudice.
Meanwhile, Estrelabet is enjoying this moment of the football -oriented fair showing several clubs in Brazil and other news on the way. We have America from Rio, Internacional, which we also support as Master Sponsor the female team. We are making the sports bet and igaming industry grow more and more in Brazil and Latin America. Estrelabet likes to be ahead of it, always seeking the best solution.

The Ministry of Economy has been saying that they are working on the regulation and that it will arrive son. But there's a lot of delay, isn't there?
We understand the Executive's paths to be able to participate in this decision-making process. Fortunately, the Ministry of Economy had the good sense to listen to who is working in Brazil. We had the opportunity to talk, and the dialogue helps a lot and gives us the expectation that this will happen in the coming months. We are confident that this will happen and that we will work on this regulatory process, giving Brazilian players the opportunity to bet on Brazilian companies. I am sure that we will build this scenario together in Brazil and that we will have good news in the coming months.

Does EstrelaBet already have the “forms” ready in hand?
We already are. Everything is ready and we are just waiting for the signature of the President, whether the current one or another who enters. Anyway, we just wait for the electoral process and the expectation is that by the end of the year, with the replacement or maintenance of the president, the regulation will be ready, either by the Executive or the Legislative.

Too bad it won't arrive sooner, for the World Cup!
It would be ideal if everything was ready for the World Cup for the activations that we would like to do in a much more complete way. Today, with the current structure, we have less freedom, as demand from the international company, whose compliances are different from ours. We have to ask for authorizations from outside and it is not Brazilians who will decide and they do not have the understanding that we have. With the regulation, the structure itself tends to be better and the World Cup with the regulated market would be much better.

We are talking about Brazil, but what is the expectation of EstrelaBet also going to other Latin American countries? Is this already being discussed internally?
Yes. The Latin American market is growing. I had the opportunity to discuss this in Argentina and I talked a lot about taking the intelligence that we have acquired with the Brazilian public to other countries. It is something that has been discussed to monitor and we have followed the regulations. Paraguay, for example, has almost a monopoly with just one company and is looking to open up. We are keeping an eye on and looking for good opportunities for the brand or to create another that is understandable to other countries with all our expertise in a fair gaming sector and a correct sports bet also for the countries of the region and, who knows, for other continents as well.
