Dafabet to cease operations in Brazil as of this Thursday

The betting house Dafabet, Guarani's main sponsor, has decided not to continue its services in Brazil and will cease its operations as of this Thursday (10). No longer on the government's list, the contract with Dafabet will be analyzed by the club's legal department.

Announced as the master sponsor of 'Bugre' in July, the 'Bet' - as operators are called in Brazil - was not included in the list of the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA) of the Ministry of Finance and will have its website taken down by the Federal Government as of Friday (11).

In addition to the fight against relegation in the Série B of the Brazilian Championship, Guarani is now facing another problem in this final stretch of the season.

Dafabet posted a notice on its official website with the decision. "We regret to inform you that Dafabet will cease its online gaming operations in Brazil as of 10/10/2024. We kindly ask that you withdraw any remaining balance in your account as soon as possible. Please ensure that all withdrawal requests are submitted by 10/15/2024," reads part of the statement.

Dafabet's exit from the country should not greatly affect Guarani's accounts, which would have already received the full amount for the year 2024. Now, however, the club will have to seek and open new negotiations to define a new sponsor.

Dafabet was announced as Guarani's master sponsor in July of this year to display the brand on the front of the uniform until the end of the 2025 São Paulo Championship, with priority for renewal.

In addition to the uniform, the betting house's brand was also being displayed on the advertising boards of official matches, in the locker room and during press conferences.

Interestingly, one of the brand's "ambassadors" is former striker Amoroso, an idol of the 'Bugrino' club and winner of the São Paulo Junior Football Cup with the club in 1994. He played 40 games for Guarani, in two spells, and scored 28 goals.

With the regularization of betting houses, the federal government recently released a list of companies eligible to remain in Brazil and Dafabet was not included, which raised doubts about the continuity of the agreement. Later, even with updates to the list, Dafabet did not appear and its departure was confirmed this week. Guarani has not yet commented on the case.
