Ronan Moreira resigns as general director of the Loteria de Minas Gerais

After 15 years in office, the general director of the Loteria do Estado de Minas Gerais, Ronan Moreira, presented his resignation from his position as head of LEMG this Tuesday (26). The director forwarded the letter to the Secretary of Economic Development, Fernando Passalio. In it, he states that the decision was carefully thought out and that it was due to personal reasons.

The now former general director of the Minas Gerais Lottery had held the position for 15 years and during that period he promoted structural changes at LEMG, increasing revenues and bringing modernity to the lottery products offered to the population of Minas Gerais.

Ronan Moreira has served in several governments of different political persuasions, having served under former governors Antônio Anastasia, Fernando Pimentel and, currently, Romeu Zema.

In the letter delivered to the Secretary of Economic Development, Fernando Passalio, Ronan Moreira stated about his resignation: “Personal reasons prevent me from continuing to perform my duties with the dedication and excellence that the position demands.” According to him, the request was “carefully” considered.

“I firmly believe that the Loteria Mineira will continue to prosper under new leadership, and I am available to facilitate a smooth and effective transition,” he stated when declaring his full support for the secretary and governor Romeu Zema.

The Legislative Assembly of Minas Gerais (ALMG) canceled a meeting in which Moreira would be questioned to continue leading the Loteria Mineira. The opinion of the special committee responsible for questioning him, approved in December 2023, was in favor of approving the nomination.

Now, ALMG will have to wait for the nomination of Ronan Moreira's replacement to hold a new hearing for the candidate chosen by Governor Romeu Zema.
