Botafogo's contract with its master sponsor, the sports betting house Parimatch, ends this month and before the last game of the Brazilian Championship next Sunday (8), the company even made a post on its social networks in a farewell tone to the 'Alvinegro'.
After the match, Thairo Arruda, CEO of Botafogo's SAF, spoke to the “Opinião Fogo Play” channel about the end of this cycle and the search for a new sponsor: “They bought our project two years ago, when we were nothing, when we only had a PowerPoint presentation and a growth plan, and they bought into this idea. Today, we are lifting the trophy together. I don't think there could have been more success than this union between Parimatch and Botafogo,” he said.
“For next year, obviously, we are in talks with several companies, especially betting houses, which is where the greatest attraction for clubs is nowadays. We have been talking a lot, I have been personally involved with the club's commercial director, Rafael Ganem, and I hope to have something to announce by the end of the year, to start 2025 with a new partnership,” he concluded.
The two-year agreement with Parimatch earned the 'Glorioso' R$27.5 million (US$4.6m) per year. The club's intention now is to secure a more advantageous contract, since currently the club only holds the ninth position in the ranking of annual revenue from master sponsorship of teams that competed in the Brasileirão.
The club's hope is that the victories in the Brasileirão and Libertadores will attract companies interested in investing more in the club.
Champion and runner-up looking for new partners
Botafogo and Palmeiras are going through similar moments: the search for a new master sponsor that will invest greater amounts in the club.
In the case of the São Paulo team, however, the agreement with the new partner has already been agreed and should be announced, according to information from the newspaper Lance!, in 2025, during the launch of the club's new uniform. The new sponsor will be the bookmaker Sportingbet, which will invest a fixed amount of R$100 million (US$16.7m) per season, with the possibility of bonuses for sports goals, which can increase the amount to up to R$150 million (US$25.1m) per year.
The new four-year agreement includes adjustment clauses based on inflation rates in Brazil and will cover both the men's and women's teams.
The partnership with Sportingbet brings Palmeiras closer to the top of the ranking, which is currently occupied by Flamengo. The Rubro-Negro receives R$105 million (US$17.6m) per year from Pixbet, its main sponsor.
Currently, Palmeiras receives a fixed R$81 million (US$13.5m) per year from the agreement with Crefisa and FAM (Faculdade das Américas), an amount that could jump to R$120 million (US$ 20.1m) with sports bonuses provided for in the contract.
