Big Brazil requests federal license to operate sports betting and online gaming in Brazil

Big Brazil, owner of the Caesars Sportsbook sports betting and online gaming brand in Brazil, has joined the list of companies with federal license applications listed in the Betting Management System (Sigap), of the Ministry of Finance. The status means that the bookmaker has met all the necessary requirements to request authorization to operate in the sports betting and iGaming market in Brazil.

A member of the National Association of Games and Lotteries (ANJL), Big Brazil is yet another example of how serious companies that are already operating legally in Brazil and are undergoing the regularization process, still underway, are committed to respecting the rules that have been and will be established by the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets (SPA). In addition to Big Brazil, the applications of four other operators are already listed in Sigap.

The president of ANJL, Plínio Lemos Jorge, points out that several other betting companies have already submitted their federal license applications, but their processes are still ongoing. “To be listed on Sigap, the betting house needs to submit a series of documents and meet an extensive list of requirements demanded by the regulator. Therefore, many companies still do not appear in the system, even though they have already started the process, which can take months,” said Plínio.

According to Ordinance SPA/MF 827, which regulated the procedures for authorization applications, the deadline for analyzing applications is up to 180 days. However, companies that submit their applications by August 20 of this year will receive a response from the Ministry of Finance by December 31 of this year. “The sector is confident that many operators will be able to submit their applications within this window,” added the president of ANJL.

While waiting for the federal license, Big Brazil has already carried out the Proof of Concept (PoC) to operate sports betting and online gaming in the State of Rio de Janeiro. The company will await the result of the assessment to continue the accreditation process with Loterj and act on behalf of the global giant in the casino industry based in Las Vegas/USA.

“We are very excited about the approval of BiG Brazil/Caesars in the Proof of Concept of our platform for the operation of the fixed-odds betting and online casino lottery modality, which demonstrates the technical competence of the technology we are bringing to Brazil,” highlighted André Feldman, CEO of BiG Brazil, a company licensed by the Caesars Sportsbook Group.

“We will introduce the Caesars Sportsbook brand into the country through the state of Rio de Janeiro. We prioritized Rio de Janeiro, which, with a population of over 16 million inhabitants, has greater potential than several European countries with the same population as the state, such as Belgium, the Czech Republic, Greece, Sweden, Portugal, among others,” added the executive.

Launched in March 2023, the National Association of Games and Lotteries defends the interests of its members, the sector and responsible and honest gaming, always guided by the promotion of sports, the security of bets and the contribution to the economic development of the country.

Partners include galera.bet/Playtech, Big Brazil, F12, PagBet, Betnacional, Mr. Jack, Parimatch, BetFast, Aposta Ganha, Liderança Capitalização, Zro. Bank, Propane, Paag, Clear Sale, BetBox tv, StarsPay and WEpayments.
