Microbets grew 41% in Brazil in 2024 consolidating eSports among 18-30-year-olds

Research by Fulltrader Sports shows that the microbet segment—bets placed on very short-term events such as corners, cards, and kills in eSports matches—grew 41% in 2024 in Brazil and continues to rise in 2025. The trend is driven especially by young audiences aged 18 to 30, who seek fast results and more immersive digital experiences.

The trend gained momentum in the second half of the year with competitions like the Brazilian League of Legends Championship (CBLOL) finals and international Counter-Strike tournaments, including the BLAST Premier, held between July and August.

According to Ricardo Santos, data scientist and founder of Fulltrader Sports, the preference for dynamic formats reflects a cultural shift. “Younger generations consume entertainment in short windows. Microbets and eSports align with this behavior, offering near-instant excitement and constant interaction,” he explains.

A rising market

The digital betting sector already moved R$150 billion (US$28bn) in 2023 in Brazil, and with regulation in effect since January 2025, the government projects tax revenue of up to BRL 6 billion by year-end.

Data from Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) and the Central Bank reinforce the trend: the digital entertainment market in the country is expected to grow 6.2% in 2025, above the service sector average.

Besides the appeal of quick returns, bettors are becoming more analytical and attentive to statistics. The use of graphs, odds, and artificial intelligence increased 22% in 2024, signaling more rational decision-making, according to Fulltrader research.

“Today, those who don’t use real-time data are at a disadvantage. The most advanced platforms already offer simulations and projections that turn betting into an analytical strategy,” adds Santos.

With young people leading adoption and major international tournaments heating up the sporting calendar, the market is expected to peak again in the second half of the year. “The challenge is balancing innovation, engagement, and Responsible Gaming practices to ensure the sector’s sustainability,” concludes the Fulltrader Sports expert.
