"Pragmatic Play leads in compliance and drives innovation in the growing Latin American market"

At recent SBC Summit Lisbon, Victor Arias, VP at ARRISE powering Pragmatic Play, highlighted the growing Latin presence and the company's role as a reference in the market. He talked with GMB about the success of the robust betting platform and reinforced that Pragmatic Play has invested in innovation with Smart Studio for the live casino vertical. He also highlighted its presence in regulated markets, especially in Brazil, while maintaining a focus on compliance and regional expansion.

GMB – What were Pragmatic Play’s objectives at the SBC Summit Lisbon?
Victor Arias – SBC Lisbon was a great stage for us. I’m very happy to see the turnout from Latin America at this fair. We had visitors from all over the continent, and our expectations were completely met. I’m both surprised and very pleased. You can truly see that the Latin American market still has a strong hunger to learn, seeking ways to mature by learning from markets that already have much more advanced industry knowledge.

Can Pragmatic Play act as a teacher to show all of Latin America how to properly develop the market?
For all companies wanting to enter the Latin American market, we truly are an example. We operate in a market where the digital community is growing every day. We are sports enthusiasts, and, obviously, there is also a strong appetite for entertainment. From day one, we applied a localization strategy, which is one of the most important challenges when dealing with a market that operates very differently from other continents. I would say that today we are a reference, and I say that with pride.

Besides the highly successful games, Pragmatic Play now has a very robust sportsbook platform. How is that performing in Latin America?
For us, it was an innovation that brought us great satisfaction this year in Latin America. We were able to launch the entire regional commercial process for our new technology. We focused and worked hard to bring innovation, cutting-edge technology, and user experience. It has definitely been a success, and we will continue this commercial process into 2026.

Always seeking innovation?
Yes. Latin America demands innovation, diversification, and localization. Our challenge remains the same. Beyond being a challenge, it is a goal: to continue innovating. This year, we also introduced our Smart Studio solution to the market in a much more aggressive way. It is part of our live casino vertical and allows our commercial partners and clients to have their tables branded through a very simple commercial process. It is part of this innovation strategy and the need for diversification. So, we will continue innovating.

What is your assessment of regulated markets? Brazil regulated eight months ago, and other Latin American countries are either pursuing regulation or have recently done so. How is Pragmatic Play positioning itself in these markets?
Pragmatic Play operates in over 33 jurisdictions. We have a very robust legal and compliance team dedicated to closely monitoring each regulation and, of course, ensuring compliance with all requirements. Today, as you said, we are in the largest regulated market in the world, Brazil, but we also have a strong presence in markets like Colombia and Peru. We will continue following this same approach in our strategy.

And what about Chile?
We’ll see what happens with Chile. We are looking closely, and as I said, our compliance department monitors every regulatory effort in each market and, naturally, compliance with requirements is part of our DNA.

After complying with Brazil’s regulations, do the others seem a bit easier? Is Brazil’s regulatory framework more robust and stricter?
It’s not a matter of ease, but of having the required internal resources. As I mentioned earlier, we have dedicated departments within the company that focus specifically on understanding each regulation and meeting its requirements.
