The hearing follows Request No. 125, filed by Deputy Caio Vianna, to continue discussions initiated during a similar session in early September — with the goal of deepening the debate and seeking concrete solutions.
In his justification, Caio Vianna pointed out that Law No. 14,790 determines that a portion of the gross revenue from fixed-odds betting must be allocated to Brazilian athletes as compensation for the use of their names, sports nicknames, and images.
“However, these payments are still not being made. The issue is urgent, as athletes are the foundation of the sporting spectacle, yet they remain without the due compensation, while their images continue to be widely used on betting platforms,” Vianna stated.
