Reinforcing public health debate

EBAC brings its expertise in social responsibility in the gambling sector to BiS Brasília

The Brazilian Company for Supporting Compulsive Gamblers (EBAC) is attending BiS Brasília, the largest gambling event ever held in the federal capital, this Tuesday (21) and Wednesday (22). The organization will participate in the panel 'Responsible Gambling and Social Impact,' which will be held at 9:15 a.m. on the second day, bringing together experts to discuss the role of public health in prevention and treatment policies related to compulsive gambling.

EBAC will be represented by Cristiano Costa, specialist in compulsive behavior and director of the institution, and Ricardo Magri, iGaming business development expert, company CEO, and Responsible Gaming ambassador. Their participation reinforces the organization’s position as one of Brazil’s leading voices in promoting responsible and sustainable practices within the betting ecosystem.

For Ricardo Magri, the discussion is essential to ensure the topic is no longer viewed solely from a regulatory or economic perspective. “Talking about Responsible Gaming is talking about mental health. It means understanding that behind the numbers and market trends, there are people and families who need guidance, support, and effective public policies,” he highlights.

Cristiano Costa emphasizes the importance of collaboration between the private sector and public authorities. “Mental health has always been a challenge in Brazil. After 2020—a period that coincides with the expansion of betting—the discussion gained traction, as did the demand for real or virtual spaces for support,” he notes.

“There’s still much to be done to make specialized support more accessible and to include Responsible Gaming in public health promotion strategies. This debate in Brasília is a valuable opportunity to advance partnerships and policies that combine prevention, support, and emotional education,”
he adds.

Present at the main industry events, EBAC has consistently worked to raise awareness about the social impact of betting and the importance of prevention and support mechanisms. Its participation in BiS Brasília reinforces the institution’s commitment to the responsible development of Brazil’s gaming industry.

BiS Brasília will bring together executives, government officials, and industry leaders in an intense program focused on regulation, integrity, legal security, and governance. The conference aims to become a milestone in fostering dialogue between the betting industry and public authorities, while opening space for social and health issues that directly affect the sector’s future.
