Rio Grande do Norte launches accreditation notice for testing and certification laboratories

Another important step has been taken by the Rio Grande do Norte State Treasury Department towards the implementation of the Loteria Estadual do RN. This week, the notice for the accreditation of testing and certification laboratories was published in the Official Gazette, with the aim of ensuring that the games offered comply with international security and integrity standards.

“The publication of this notice represents a significant step forward in the regulation and implementation of the Rio Grande do Norte State Lottery. These accreditations are part of the preparatory phase for the start of operations. Soon, a call for payment service providers will also be released and, with this framework in place, we will be able to publish the call for lottery operators,” highlighted the Executive Secretary of Revenue, Jane Carneiro.

The laboratories accredited through Notice No. 001/2025 will work alongside lottery and fixed-odds betting operators. Both national and foreign legal entities with a legal representative in Brazil may apply, provided they meet the conditions set forth in the document.

With the creation of the Rio Grande do Norte State Lottery, the State Government reinforces its commitment to legality, transparency, and security within the gaming sector. The regulation of the activity will make it possible to combat illegal practices, protect consumers, and ensure that entertainment takes place within ethical and responsible standards — promoting the preservation of bettors’ mental and financial health.

The concept of Responsible Gaming is at the core of the State Lottery’s actions. The initiative encourages safe, conscious, and controlled practices that prevent addiction and promote gaming as a balanced and sustainable form of leisure.

The measure also fosters cooperation among operators, regulators, and bettors, strengthening prevention, support, and awareness policies — consolidating the State’s commitment to social responsibility and integrity in the gaming sector.
