Loterias CAIXA stood out among the quarter’s results. The lotteries’ collection reached R$ 6.4 billion (US$1.18bn) and grew 9.9% compared to the same period of 2024. Legal transfers for the quarter reached R$ 2.4 billion (US$444m) for federal government social programs.
In 2024, Loterias CAIXA recorded a historic collection of R$ 25.9 billion (US$4.85bn). So far in 2025, R$ 18 billion (US$3.3bn) has been collected, with R$ 6.9 billion (US$1.3bn) destined for social programs and public policies. In Q3-25 alone, R$ 2.4 billion (US$444m) was allocated for this purpose.
“These figures are particularly relevant for the Brazilian population, as revenue from CAIXA lotteries constitutes an important source of funds for social programs and public investments across the country,” the state bank pointed out.
Despite the 9.9% growth in 3Q2025 compared to the same period last year, projections indicate that Loterias CAIXA will at best replicate the 2024 results, when they reached nearly R$ 26 billion (US$4.86bn). To achieve that level, lotteries would need to repeat the previous quarter’s revenue in the last quarter of 2025.
In a context of growth in state lotteries and an increase in municipal lotteries, the state bank may need to review the entire lottery business model — modernize products, improve prize payouts and ensure sustainable results to guarantee resources for social benefits derived from total revenue.
