With the change in the rules for allocating the main prize of the Mega da Virada lottery, established in August of this year by the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA), whoever correctly guesses the 6 numbers in the 2025 edition could win a historic prize, which could reach R$ 1 billion (US$186m), depending on the success of the collection. This amount represents the largest prize in the history of lotteries in Brazil.
The modification was established by Ordinance SPA/MF No. 1,656 and increased the percentage allocated to the main prize category of the Mega da Virada from 62% to 90% of the total prize pool. This new rule enhances the value of the main prize and increases the chances of a billion-dollar prize.
Another new development is that, starting November 3, the hours for placing bets on all CAIXA Lottery modalities, including the Mega da Virada, will be extended. Bettors will have an extra hour to purchase their group bets through the Loterias CAIXA app and website, and can buy their shares until 8:30 PM.
Just like in other special Loterias CAIXA draws, the Mega da Virada jackpot does not accumulate. If there are no winners in the first tier of 6 numbers, the prize will be divided among those who correctly guessed 5 numbers in the second tier, and so on, according to the rules of the game.
Bets can be placed using the specific Mega da Virada betting slip through Loterias CAIXA channels: the more than 13,000 outlets throughout Brazil, the Loterias CAIXA portal, and the entity’s app (iOS and Android), as well as CAIXA Internet Banking, exclusive to CAIXA account holders. The cost of a simple bet with 6 numbers is R$ 6 (US$1.10).
CAIXA 'Bolão'
To participate in a Mega-Sena group bet, bettors can purchase shares organized by lottery retailers, which may charge an additional service fee. It's also possible to buy shares through the Loterias CAIXA portal or the entity’s app. When the group bet is organized by the bettor themselves, no service fee is charged.
The Loterias CAIXA ‘Bolão’ (group bet) is a way for bettors to place bets as a group. Simply fill in the appropriate field on the betting slip or ask the lottery attendant.
In Mega-Sena, it's possible to create a group bet with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 100 shares, with up to 10 bets per receipt. In the case of a group bet with more than one bet, all bets must contain the same number of predicted numbers.
