Cruzeiro and Flutter Brazil announce shift from Betfair to Betnacional as main sponsor

Cruzeiro has a major announcement for the 2026 season: Betnacional, owned by Flutter Brazil, will take over as the club’s main sponsor starting next year. The decision is part of the group’s strategic move in the Brazilian market. Betnacional will continue the relationship with the team by reinforcing its national identity and its closeness to the country’s football culture.

Meanwhile, Betfair will continue operating in the Brazilian market with a focus on its global positioning in technological excellence and betting performance. The brand—one of the most relevant worldwide—will continue to highlight its Exchange platform, offering a more modern, interactive betting environment aligned with international best practices for Brazilian bettors.

Initial activation during the Cruzeiro vs. Botafogo match

The first action related to the announcement took place during the 37th round of the 2025 Brazilian Championship, in the match between Cruzeiro and Botafogo at Mineirão. Cruzeiro entered the field in the first half wearing the jersey featuring Betfair as the main sponsor. In the second half, the team surprised the audience when it returned to the field displaying Betnacional’s branding on the uniforms.

The unprecedented action in Brazilian sports marks the beginning of Flutter Brazil’s new strategy, with two brands offering complementary attributes in the Brazilian market, thus providing the best experience for all types of fans and bettors.

Betfair has appeared on the shirt of the “Maior de Minas” since January 2023. During these three seasons as the team's main sponsor, it supported campaigns such as “Caravana do Cruzeiro,” held in cities across the interior of Minas Gerais; backed initiatives like the Racial Observatory by giving up its shirt space on youth teams for the NGO; and honored fans through the “Betfera of the Month,” highlighting stories of supporters who represent true passion for the club.

The transition to Betnacional promises to continue celebrating Cruzeiro’s fanbase, now with the expertise of a local brand with Brazilian roots and familiarity with national football. According to Flutter Brazil’s Head of Brand Experience, Jorge Peixoto, these changes aim to deepen the integration between fans and the brands.

“We strongly believe in the potential of both brands in Brazil. Betfair has built a history marked by important activations and positive impact that generates strong media and fan engagement, and now Betnacional arrives to deepen this relationship with an even more local approach. Betfair will continue with its global excellence, while Betnacional carries the identity and sentiment of the Brazilian fan. Flutter reinforces that the transition is taking place in a structured manner, preserving the group’s commitment to Cruzeiro Esporte Clube and the integrity of the operation.

It sponsors some of the country’s biggest events and programs, such as Big Brother Brasil 2025, the Rio Open, Lollapalooza, Lauana Prado’s Raiz tour, and the traditional Carnival of Salvador, among others.

Betnacional also features prominent ambassadors such as star player Vini Jr., singer Nathanzinho, and iconic sports commentator Galvão Bueno. Its presence is strong in sports, with high visibility in stadiums and advertising spots in various championships through BRAX.

Additionally, it is the official sponsor of Futebol 2025 on Rede Globo, the main sponsor of Sport Club do Recife, the Rio Marathon 2025, and will partner with CazéTV for the broadcast of the FIFA World Cup 2026. Betnacional promotes sustainable growth in Brazil’s betting industry and reinforces its commitment to Responsible Gaming through a strong partnership with the Brazilian Institute of Responsible Gaming (IBJR).
