Bookmaker Parimatch leaves Brazil after market regulation and ends sponsorships

After announcing the sale of its operations in Brazil at the end of 2024, sports betting company Parimatch will cease all its activities in the country and end all current sponsorship contracts. One of the main motivations is the betting regulation currently imposed in Brazil. The company finally sold its business in the country to VBet.

According to local newspaper Lance!, the decision is part of the expansion strategy of Growe, the company that owns the brand, in Latin America, and which no longer includes Brazil in its projections.

In addition to the sale of Parimatch to VBet within the country, which implied the change in Botafogo's sponsorship at the turn of the season, other contracts also come to an end with this decision.

In the case of Rio de Janeiro's club, the sponsorship agreement "migrated" from the former betting house to VBet, which took over as the master sponsor for the uniforms. This was also the path taken by users, who were transferred from one platform to another.

In Stock Car, the group is in the process of renewing its contracts for the 2025 season and is negotiating with VBet itself, which now owns Parimatch's operations, to have the brand among its sponsors. The automobile category negotiates its brand agreements based on quotas, divided by sector of activity. In this case, the so-called 'Bets'.

What explains Parimatch exit from Brazil

According to Growe, the decision to leave the country follows the path taken by some other 'Bets', as operators are locally called. Since 2024, the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Finance, has intensified the process of regulating betting houses in the country, which impacts their operations, both from a bureaucratic and financial perspective.

In the case of Parimatch and Growe, the regulatory process in Brazil went through a turbulent and uncertain phase for a long time, which affected the brand's presence in the country in its commercial processes.
