Alfabet, the sports betting and online gaming company of Alfa Entrenimento, has been definitively approved to operate in Brazil and is beginning to move to increase its visibility in the Brazilian market.
The company's first major investment could be announced at any moment and has Grêmio, one of the most traditional soccer teams in Rio Grande do Sul, as its target.
The betting company should occupy the most prominent space on the Grêmio uniform, replacing Banrisul, paying R$50 million (US$ 8.6m) per year. Although it has not yet been officially announced, it is possible that the brand will already be printed on the next 'Gre-Nal' match, which will take place this Saturday (8).
In interviews with the Rio Grande do Sul press last week, Grêmio's VP, Eduardo Magrisso, stated: “So, I believe that, over the next week, this issue will be resolved and we will already have a new sponsor for Saturday's game.”
“We cannot talk too much about these strategic and business issues, but Grêmio has an important space on the jersey thanks to this partnership with Banrisul and, certainly, will and is making the best possible negotiation. The understanding is that this should be resolved as soon as possible,” he stated.
If the agreement is reached, the Banrisul brand will undergo changes in its position on the uniform, moving from the front to the back of the shirt. In addition, the bank's investment in sponsorship will be reduced from R$30 million (US$ 5.1m) to R$18 million (US$ 3.1m), directly impacting the institution's visibility on the clothing.
The contract with Banrisul ended at the end of 2024, but Grêmio will still keep the brand until the decision is made on who will occupy the most prominent space on the uniform.
