Marzia Turrini, President - iGaming & Cybersecurity

“BMM worked until Christmas and delivered what operators expected to start regulated in Brazil”

A year-end full of hard work. This is how Marzia Turrini, President of iGaming & Cybersecurity at BMM, describes in an exclusive interview with GMB how the last days of 2024 were for the company. One of the first laboratories to be accredited in Brazil, BMM delivered everything that operators expected to start 2025 in compliance. “We will continue at full steam, and we are following through with our plan to open a local unit soon.”

GMB - What's new at BMM at ICE Barcelona?
Marzia Turrini -
First of all, we're in Barcelona, so I didn't have to travel or catch a plane for the first time in my life. I'm very happy to be able to sleep at home. Well, as you can see, this fair is huge, gigantic. The digital part is immense, the stands are wonderful, so we're delighted. There's a huge turnout, yesterday we had lots of non-stop meetings and today, even before the opening, we were already in full swing. I'm very happy.

Of course, everyone talks about Brazil. During Christmas, Brazil didn't let us rest. We had to work until December 25th. Our team was very upset because they couldn't rest or enjoy their vacation. But what can I say? We're delighted because everything is going very well. The market has just started and it promises a lot.

Is BMM managing to serve all operators and platforms with the certifications? Is everything going well?
It's going well. However, we did have some difficulties, and I have to be honest about that. There was a lot more work than we expected, plus the impact of the holidays and Christmas period, which made the dates challenging. But now we have overcome the most difficult moments and are getting back to normal.

And monitoring all operations to ensure that everything complies with regulations?
Yes, of course. We have a direct channel of communication with the regulator. So, whenever our clients, who are B2B providers or operators, have questions, we can clarify them quickly. Everything is under control.

Regarding regulations, was Brazil quite strict when drafting all the ordinances so that you, as a laboratory, understood what they wanted and delivered what was requested?
Yes, that's true. There were times when we asked for some clarifications. As you know, regulations are subject to interpretation. We needed to make sure that our interpretation was correct. Talking to our clients, we also learned that, in some cases, our competitors had slightly different interpretations. But all of this is a matter of clarification, no problem. We received the necessary answers and clarifications from the regulator.

What are BMM's plans for Brazil in 2025?
We will continue working full steam ahead in Brazil. As I mentioned last time, we will have our offices in São Paulo. The plans have been slightly delayed, but the opening in Brazil is guaranteed. It was just a logistical issue.

We will also participate in all the fairs, such as SBC, BiS SiGMA in São Paulo and SiGMAgma America. Our plans are fully focused on Brazil and also on SiGMA Brazil, where we will have a stand. We are increasingly integrated into the Brazilian market.
