The ban will apply to entities that have received sponsorships in the 12 months prior to the signing of the partnership with the municipal government.
The bill preserves contracts and agreements already signed until the end of their original validity.
The bill presented by Bonduki aims to prohibit the City of São Paulo from establishing partnerships with entities that have received sponsorships from betting operators in the 12 months prior to the signing of the partnership.
The ban covers both direct and indirect sponsorships and includes the assignment of naming rights of municipal public equipment to these companies.
To receive resources or support from the city government, entities must declare that they do not fall within the established restrictions.
If the declaration is false, the entity will be subject to returning the resources received or paying corresponding fines. The measure aims to discourage the abusive use of bets and protect the physical and financial health of the population of São Paulo.
By associating its symbols with the logos of betting houses, the city government gives "an air of officiality to the services offered, in an unacceptable distortion of institutional advertising", says the bill.
The text also prevents the assignment of naming rights of municipal equipment, such as subway stations, to 'Bets'.
The measure extends to concessionaires and licensees of public services.
