Bahia should join states such as São Paulo, Maranhão, Tocantins and Paraná, which have already initiated similar processes for concession of lottery services. The state lottery model was approved in 2020 by the Federal Supreme Court (STF), which concluded that the Union could not monopolize the service. In other states, the auction took place on the Stock Exchange (B3), with large amounts raised.
In a note, Bahia Investe indicated that the measure seeks to “modernize and increase its efficiency” in services.
“The signing of the agreement represents a strategic step in the consolidation of a sustainable and innovative model for the sector in the state, reinforcing the commitment of the Government of Bahia,” the company stated in a note to Bahia Notícias.
“The initiative aims to ensure greater legal certainty, market attractiveness and efficiency in the provision of these services, through a structured and transparent concession.”
“The scope of the agreement includes the contracting of demand studies, engineering, IT architecture, governance, technical-operational, economic-financial and legal forecasts, with the preparation of minutes, contracts and performance indicators,” it added.
