The decision aims to prevent, as a precautionary measure, betting companies from offering bets, accepting deposits in the national territory and registering new bettors until they demonstrate proof of the cybersecurity of their operations.
Article 8 of Ordinance SPA/MF No. 722/2024 requires the submission of an assessment report of the betting system within 90 days after obtaining authorization, which was not complied with by the suspended betting operators.
The lack of reports affects the safety of bettors and the popular economy, the fight against money laundering and the collection of taxes and contributions. The measure affects all authorized websites of the company subject to the precautionary measure.
If the obligation persists, a sanctioning process may be instituted. If the companies do not comply with the precautionary measures, a daily fine of R$40,000 (US$7,000) will be applied.
The Secretariat has adopted precautionary measures against each of the following betting operators and their respective betting websites and apps, with the aim of ensuring the safety of bettors in the face of repeated non-compliance with the following regulatory requirements.
