The request was made by Luís Otávio Veríssimo Teixeira, president of the body. The objective is to investigate the suspicion that the Flamengo player, who denies involvement in the case, had manipulated results in a betting scheme.
Maxwell Borges de Moura Vieira was the auditor appointed by the STJD to conduct the investigation. Therefore, Bruno Henrique should be classified under article 243, which deals with manipulation cases.
There is a possibility that the Court will request a preventive removal of the Flamengo striker, but the tendency is that this will not happen. Therefore, the number 27 is likely to be free to play until the trial.

“The president of the Superior Court of Sports Justice for Football, Luís Otávio Veríssimo Teixeira, requested this Wednesday, May 7, the opening of an investigation to investigate a possible disciplinary infraction committed by the athlete Bruno Henrique, from Flamengo.
The request was filed after the sharing of evidence by the Federal Police's Corruption Repression Coordination in the process that investigates the suspicion of match-fixing in the betting scheme. In a ruling, Luís Otávio designated vice-president Maxwell Borges de Moura Vieira as the prosecuting auditor.”
The Bruno Henrique's case
In the 31st round of the 2023 Brasileirão, Bruno Henrique received two yellow cards in the game against Santos, in Brasília. Three betting houses noticed ‘above average’ movement in tickets for the number 27's warning. After complaints, the player became the target of an investigation.
However, the Federal Police see the situation differently. After reports of unusual bets related to the striker's card, 12 search and seizure warrants were served at locations linked to Bruno Henrique and his family, including his residence, Ninho do Urubu, and addresses in cities in Minas Gerais. Among the targets of the operation are the player's brother, sister-in-law and cousin, as well as other individuals linked to amateur football.
Despite the off-field news, Bruno Henrique has remained at the disposal of coach Filipe Luís for the time being. The player was in Santiago del Estero, Argentina, where Flamengo faced Central Córdoba this Wednesday (7) in the fourth round of the Libertadores, resulting in a 1-1 draw.
