Protagonist in yet another social action, Meridianbet, a subsidiary company of the Golden Matrix Group, has once again transformed its corporate values into concrete initiatives aimed at sustainable development in society. This time, the organization participated in voluntary campaigns aimed at blood donation, reaffirming its commitment to public health.

For the celebration of World Blood Donor Day, the company, a veteran of casino gaming and sports betting services, has expanded its long-term support for health care to an organized multinational effort by publicizing blood donation campaigns at a time when supplies are critically low in several regions.

WHO data  show that annually, worldwide, 118.5 million blood donations are made, of which 40% are in high-income countries, where 16% of the world's population lives.

In low-income regions, the number of donations is less than 5 per 1000 inhabitants, while in middle- and lower-middle-income territories it is 16.4 and 6.6, respectively per 1000 inhabitants.

Thus, it is possible to consider that the demand still exceeds the supply, highlighting the urgent need to raise awareness, encourage campaigns and invest in blood collection and distribution systems.

Solidarity in action: understand the blood donation campaigns carried out by Meridianbet

What began as a national initiative in Serbia, Meridianbet's home country, has grown into a large-scale campaign in the regions in which the organization operates, with employees answering the company's call on three different continents.

The company's blood donation activities are carried out in partnership with national blood transfusion institutes, following all medical and safety protocols.

The Meridianbet Foundation emphasizes that solidarity and community support should not be seasonal or symbolic. "We don't wait for a report to act — we live our values every day. We are proud that our teams in all markets are excelling, time and time again," said Jelena Jocic, spokesperson for the organization.

In Malta, for example, officials have dedicated themselves to supporting the island's small but essential blood reserve system, setting an example of proactive citizenship.

The employee, Nebojša Mladenovic, stands out as a symbol of the company's blood donation culture. Having performed the action more than 40 times throughout his life, the Meridianbet team member is a source of inspiration for other colleagues.

 "When you realize that one unit of blood can save up to three lives, it's clear: we're not just donating blood, we're giving someone another chance," Mladenovic said.
 


Meridianbet's ecosystem with a commitment to health

In addition to the numerous participations and organizations in voluntary blood donation campaigns, the Meridianbet Foundation also stands out in other actions focused on the development of the health sector in the more than 20 countries it operates.

Among some of the initiatives implemented, the "Scan. Help." was the most successful, as it uses the creation of QR codes to finance essential equipment for maternity hospitals in Serbia.

The Meridianbet Foundation also partnered in 2024 with the largest humanitarian foundation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, focusing on donations to health institutions, starting with Zenica, followed by Tuzla and Bihac.

It is also worth mentioning the direct support to health centers in needy areas in Latin America and Africa and the search for breast cancer prevention awareness through lectures and campaigns, held simultaneously in 12 countries.

These programs are part of a broader ESG strategy, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being.

In addition, Meridianbet is now part of the UN Global Compact initiative, which is the largest corporate sustainability initiative in the world, with more than 15,000 participating companies.

Featured campaigns between 2024 and 2025

In 2024 alone, the Meridianbet Foundation organized almost 300 new projects in humanitarian causes. The company's CSR efforts are based squarely on employee engagement, which saw a record 5,027 hours of community engagement last year.

In addition, in the first quarter of 2025, the pace of sustainable initiatives accelerated with 80 new sustainable impact proposals aimed at the long term.

Importantly, the Foundation's activities in the first quarter of 2025 also focused on the ecological sector.

For the organization's next announced campaigns, the focus should be on reducing greenhouse gases, protecting biodiversity, minimizing waste, and promoting innovative green technologies.
