For companies, the banking sector serves as an inspiration because, even with different interests, institutions come together on common issues with more "firepower". This is what happened, for example, after a meeting between Febraban and the executive secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Dario Durigan, in which he stated that the department was willing to consider alternatives to the decree that increased the IOF.
Without a name for the new federation yet, online betting industry agents are already informally calling the entity "Febrabet."
The idea is to use it as a tool to overcome the fragmentation of this market, which is still in the stabilization phase in Brazil after regulation by the federal government.
Some names are already being considered for the "unification" of the segment. Among them are Amilton Noble (Hebara Distribuidora de Produtos Lotéricos), Ana Bárbara Teixeira (Abrajogo), Ana Clara Barros (Aidiglot), Bárbara Teles (Stake), Hugo Baungartner (Esportes da Sorte), Leonardo Baptista (Pay4Fun), Magnho José (IJL) and Natália Nogues (Control F5).
Today, legalized betting is represented by several associations, which complicates the process of filing claims in Brasília.
Market operators say that, after the proposal to increase the tax on betting, this is the first time that associations have decided to unite in a manifesto against the measure.
Through a Provisional Measure sent to Congress, Minister Fernando Haddad (Finance) proposed increasing the taxation of bets from 12% to 18%, as an alternative to increase revenue in place of the decree that increased the IOF.
