In total, 11 law firms and 17 lawyers were ranked in three levels of excellence, with “Band 1” representing the highest degree of recognition. Among the best evaluated firms, Montgomery, Pinheiro Neto and Tozzini Freire stand out.
The list of individual lawyers with the highest standing are, in alphabetical order: André Santa Ritta (Pinheiro Neto), Caio Loureiro (Tozzini Freire), José Francisco Manssur (Carvalho Sica Muszkat Vidigal e Carneiro) and Neil Montgomery (Montgomery), all ranked in the Band 1 category.
Lawyer Neil Montgomery, founder of the firm that bears his name, with a 30-year career and who has been working in the sector for 20 years, long before the industry was regulated, celebrated the recognition: “Seeing the firm and my name at the top of the ranking is the pinnacle of international recognition. It is the result of two decades of working in the sector, since when the legalization of online gambling in Brazil was not even considered,” he said.
He also highlighted the formative role that his team plays: “I am proud to have introduced dozens of lawyers to the industry, many of whom today hold prominent positions in large companies in the sector.”
The inclusion of the “Gaming and Betting” category in the Chambers & Partners annual ranking follows the growth and consolidation of the betting market in Brazil, especially after the advancement of regulation and the entry of major players into the country. The new addition also reinforces the importance of qualified legal services to ensure security and compliance in an increasingly complex and competitive environment.
