Alcolumbre considered that, with the space given to Virgínia, the committee has become nothing more than a “platform” for senators to surf social media. In this scenario, there would be no reason to give the CPI another 130 days to operate.
In early May, Alcolumbre extended the committee’s work for another 45 days. The CPI’s rapporteur, Senator Soraya Thronicke (Podemos-MS), says she has the support of the majority of the committee to try for a new extension.
For this to happen, however, Alcolumbre must accept the request and read the committee’s extension in the Senate plenary. Something that should not happen, according to allies of the senator from Amapá.
If this trend is confirmed, the CPI’s rapporteur will have to present her final report this week. The committee still needs to vote on the rapporteur’s text before next Friday (13/6).
