The achievement was published on its LinkedIn page, with BetBlocker confirming that Brazil has rapidly become its fastest-growing country by a wide margin.
BetBlocker's user growth in Brazil goes hand in hand with efforts to offer more services to the Portuguese-speaking gaming community. In September 2024, during SBC Summit Lisboa, the charity had unveiled the latest update to its gambling harm prevention and blocking software in the form of a Portuguese version of the app.
The release aimed to expand its reach to native Portuguese speakers around the world just a few months away from the official launch of the Brazilian gaming market, which took place on January 1, 2025. Now, with the announcement of having reached 20,000 active users in the country, BetBlocker sees its effort come to fruition.
BetBlocker is a UK registered charity, providing free blocking software to help people limit or manage their access to online gambling services. Its app is available on the iOS, Android, Windows, Apple, Linux and Fire OS operating systems, functions equally well at restricting both licensed and unregulated gambling operators, and offers a complete continuous restriction or the option to schedule when the restriction will switch on and off.
“With years of experience working with those experiencing problem gambling and a drive and a core belief that price walls between gambling addicts and help only ensure that the most vulnerable, those in greatest need of help, are the least likely to receive it, BetBlocker offers one of the best tools to help ensure that engagement with gambling is done in a responsible and safe manner,” the charity states.
“BetBlocker is used by thousands of people worldwide every day and has been downloaded hundreds of thousands of times. Our service is regularly contacted by users to let us know that lives, families and marriages have been saved because of the restrictions that BetBlocker provides.”
