Furthermore, Haddad mentioned an annual loss of approximately R$40 billion (US$7.2bn) in revenue, attributed to the previous administration's lack of tax collection.
To address these challenges, Haddad announced that the Finance Ministry team is actively monitoring the betting sector, aiming to present an assessment of the last six months of regulation.
He also suggested the need to strengthen oversight and review the regulatory framework, possibly involving the Federal Police to ensure stricter oversight.
In response to further criticism from the minister, the National Association of Gaming and Lotteries, in another publication, stated that his comments were defamatory and warned that the ban could increase the presence of illegal websites, since regulated companies allocate part of their revenue to healthcare.
