In the Top 5, the list also includes PSG vs. Botafogo (5.09%), Flamengo vs. Bayern Munich (5.03%), and Bayern Munich vs. Boca Juniors (4.59%).
When looking solely at the total betting volume by clubs, seven European teams appear in the Top 10, with six of them occupying the top spots: PSG leads with 12% of the total betting volume, followed by Real Madrid (11.7%), Chelsea (10.2%), Inter Milan (8.3%), Borussia Dortmund (7.9%), and Manchester City (7.2%).
Flamengo and Fluminense hold the 7th and 8th positions, with 7.2% and 7.14%, respectively. Completing the Top 10 are Bayern Munich (7.11%) and Palmeiras (7%).
Another important insight was highlighted by Hans Schleier, COO at Casa de Apostas: “We saw a 10% increase in betting volume during the tournament in Brazil compared to the pre-Club World Cup period, which shows how the exposure of the matches significantly boosted demand.”
Regarding the analysis, the executive noted that European teams continued to be the most bet on, but that matches involving Brazilian clubs saw a relatively higher user preference.
“If we look at the Top 5 most bet-on teams, the Europeans still lead, largely due to a strong betting culture in Brazil around tournaments like the Champions League, which carried over to the Club World Cup. On the other hand, the most bet-on matches overall were those involving Brazilian teams, although the difference compared to matches with teams from other continents wasn’t huge,” he explained.
