Fernando Calia previously worked at the law firm Pinheiro Neto and held senior positions at companies such as Philip Morris, PepsiCo, and UnitedHealth Group. At Flutter Brazil, he will oversee the legal, compliance, and public affairs departments.
“We are living in a moment where regulation of the sector, although still very new, is evolving toward a business and regulatory environment that ensures Brazilian bettors always play legally and responsibly," says Calia.
"The company’s legal, compliance, and public affairs teams play a key role in building that environment alongside the regulatory agency and other operators.”
His appointment comes as the company undergoes restructuring following the completion of NSX Brazil’s integration. The process concluded in 2025, with Flutter Entertainment—the world’s largest sports betting and iGaming operator—acquiring 56% of the NSX group. The deal, valued at US$350 million, led to the formation of Flutter Brazil.
Since then, the company has been working to consolidate a structure that combines Flutter’s global expertise with NSX’s local presence, at a strategic time for the newly regulated Brazilian market.
