The OAB/GO’s new committee was established to address legal issues related to sports betting, online gaming, and lotteries, similar to other state chapters of the Brazilian Bar Association. The Special Committee on Sports Betting and Lottery Law of OAB/GO is chaired by Victor Gustavo Lobo Cortez Amado, with César Romero Nepomuceno serving as general secretary, and attorney Edith Costa Antunes Machado as deputy secretary.
During Amado’s inauguration, OAB/GO president Rafael Lara Martins welcomed the creation of the committee, noting that the initiative “keeps pace with the expansion of the gaming and betting market in the country, especially in light of recent regulations and the growing demand for legal certainty in the sector. It is essential for the legal profession to be prepared to act responsibly and knowledgeably in a field that involves major regulatory and ethical challenges.”
The inaugural meeting will take place on August 21 and will feature a lecture by the Secretary of Prizes and Betting of the Ministry of Finance, Regis Dudena. The theme will be “The New Regulation of Sports Betting in Brazil: Progress, Challenges, and Opportunities.”
“Join this important moment of discussion on the regulatory landscape of sports betting in Brazil, with a focus on technical, legal, and market opportunity aspects,” invites the Commission.
