Since March of this year, Lototins has been rolling out Video Lottery Terminals in Tocantins. The first installations were at gas stations in the state capital, Palmas, and the company is now looking to expand its partner network by reaching other high-traffic commercial establishments such as pharmacies, bars, and snack shops.
Supported by the Government of Tocantins, the project seeks to increase public revenue to fund areas such as healthcare, social assistance, sports, and culture. Lototins expects to be present in all 139 municipalities of Tocantins, with future expansion into shopping malls and commercial centers. Projections estimate the initiative could generate more than R$600 million (US$110m) over five years and create around 1,500 direct and indirect jobs.
According to Lototins CEO Eduardo Paiva, this new stage of VLT implementation can be adapted to various types of businesses. “By partnering with us, merchants will attract more customers and also gain the opportunity to create a new source of income for their business. They will be offering a state-authorized entertainment service that is audited and credible,” he stated.
Businesses partnering with Lototins will earn 20% revenue share on all bets placed within their establishments.
Lototins has the full support of the state government, which views the initiative as a driver of job creation in municipalities and as “an important source of dividends for state management,” in the words of Governor Wanderlei Barbosa.
Lototins – Loteria da Sorte – is the first state lottery of Tocantins, operated by the Lototins Consortium. The expectation is that within five years, gross revenue will exceed R$600 million (US$110m), with up to 1,500 direct and indirect jobs created.
The company operates across four lottery modalities: fixed-odds (sports betting and online), instant (scratch cards), numeric prognosis (similar to Mega-Sena), and passive (pre-numbered tickets).
