“The advancement of instant payments in Brazil has shown how quickly digital transactions can transform the economy,” says César Garcia, CEO of OneKey Payments.
“We built a model that can be scaled to other markets, combining regulatory preparedness, local infrastructure, and risk management. Mexico and Chile have similar conditions: high demand, regulatory evolution, and consumers ready for faster, more efficient payments.”
The announcement comes amid strong growth in digital payments across the region. As the Brazilian market matures with the consolidation of Pix, Mexico and Chile show great potential. In Mexico, the SPEI system and, in Chile, direct transfer solutions have been recording similar growth, with forecasts that digital transaction volumes will reach US$191.4 billion in Mexico and US$81.1 billion in Chile by 2030.
OneKey’s entry into both countries combines technological infrastructure and local licenses, ensuring agility, regulatory compliance, and control over the customer experience. This includes instant bank transfers such as SPEI Offline in Mexico and proprietary direct transfer solutions in Chile, tailored to each market’s needs.
“In Mexico, our focus is to provide payment experiences integrated with the local banking system,” explains Eduardo Martinez Corona, country manager of OneKey in Mexico. “We are already in an advanced stage of integrating strategic partners into our platform.”
“In Chile’s digital economy, there is room for a new level of payment innovation,” adds Patricio Quijada, country manager of OneKey in Chile. “Our solutions were designed to serve fast-growing companies that require speed and reliability.”
The expansion will begin gradually in the second half of 2025, with local teams already in place and operations scheduled to start in both countries. The company will continue serving different sectors, ranging from regulated industries such as iGaming and financial services to lower-risk segments such as marketplaces, SaaS, and e-commerce. If successful, OneKey also intends to explore other Latin American countries and become the region’s largest cross-border payments company by 2027.
