The story of Carlinhos Bala
Now 45 years old, Carlinhos Bala made a name for himself as a striker and rose to national prominence through Pernambuco football. Discovered by Santa Cruz, he also had standout stints at Sport and Náutico. During this time, he won the historic 2008 Copa do Brasil with Sport, scoring in the final against Corinthians, as well as four Campeonato Pernambucano titles (2005, 2007, 2008, 2012).
Widely regarded as the "King of Pernambuco" in football, he surprised fans in 2023 by coming out of retirement for a brief stint in American football, being announced as the kicker for the Recife Mariners in the BFA League.
