Fundesporte finances sports initiatives such as the construction of gymnasiums, hosting of competitions, and training of coaches.
Deputy Defensor Stélio Dener (Republicanos-RR), who authored the proposal, states that the bill aims to generate new sources of funding for national sports, which are currently heavily focused on football.
“We believe it is possible to expand the role of public authorities to direct more resources toward the diversity of existing sports disciplines,” he said.
The bill will be reviewed conclusively by the Committees on Sports; Finance and Taxation; and Constitution and Justice (CCJ). To become law, it must be approved by both the Chamber and the Senate.
