42 organizations in the state serve 6,000 people

Federation of APAEs and Lototins discuss contributions and benefits for associations in Tocantins

Representatives from the Federation of Associations of Parents and Friends of the Exceptional in Tocantins (Feapaes) met this Wednesday (6) with Lototins CEO Eduardo Paiva. The agenda focused on the contribution that the lottery will allocate to organizations across the state. Paiva presented details of the lottery project and heard from the federation's president and founder, Marciane Machado Silva, about the structure, and services provided by the institutions in Tocantins.

According to Article 2 of Law 4.136/2023, which regulates Lototins’ operations, APAEs will receive 5% of the total revenue raised. An additional 10% will go toward implementing and improving sports-related actions and services, and another 10% will be allocated to cancer treatment initiatives.

We are very happy with the approval of the [Lototins] law. These funds expected from Lototins’ success will help us significantly in maintaining and improving services. Many APAEs are in real need of support, as we run numerous projects,” said the president. The federation currently includes 42 APAEs spread across municipalities in Tocantins, with another 12 in the process of being established.

In total, around 6,000 people with disabilities are currently being served. Also present at the meeting was the legal advisor of FEAPAEs-TO, Aparício José da Silva Ramos Varanda.

A noble cause

Eduardo Paiva
shared that he recently visited the APAE in Palmas and plans to visit Araguaína in the north of the state in the coming weeks. “During my visit to the APAE in Palmas, I was truly impressed with the work being done there. It was exceptional service—truly excellent, and it deserves all the support. We at Lototins are proud to contribute to such a noble cause,” he said.

In this first of several meetings to come, Paiva emphasized the lottery’s legitimacy and security, stating that it is legal, regulated, and audited by the State’s Department of Finance (Sefaz).

As a genuinely Tocantins-based lottery, Lototins ensures that all revenue remains within the state. It fosters a sense of belonging. Beyond betting, participation contributes to social causes, sports, healthcare, and other societal sectors. Our launch campaign slogan, ‘Joga pra cá’ (Play here), encapsulates this perfectly. The return is for the benefit of the state itself.”

With Sefaz

The next step in these discussions involves a meeting between APAE members, Lototins, and representatives from Sefaz, the regulatory body overseeing the lottery. “It’s important to deepen the conversation about how we can collaborate effectively with the APAEs. And the associations must organize internally, building on their credibility to optimize the use of resources,” Paiva concluded.

APAEs in Tocantins

APAEs are nonprofit philanthropic organizations that operate in partnership with the state government and, in some cases, local municipalities. Their funding is based on donations, project-based fundraising, and official agreements.

In Tocantins, services are provided across healthcare, education, and social assistance. The associations maintain specialized schools, clinics, rehabilitation centers, and multidisciplinary teams.
