Sports Committee to hold public hearing to discuss distribution of ‘Bets’ funds

The Sports Committee of the Chamber approved a request by Deputy Júlio César Ribeiro proposing a public hearing to debate the model for distributing funds from ‘Bets’. Representatives from the Ministries of Finance and Sports, sports entities, and leaders of sports betting and online gaming operators will be invited.

In his justification, the deputy states that representatives from the sports sector have expressed doubts regarding the criteria for allocating funds among the various involved parties.

According to Júlio César Ribeiro, the objective is to promote a constructive debate on the mechanisms for applying and distributing the collected funds to ensure predictability, transparency, and effectiveness in strengthening national sports.

This public hearing aims to bring together key government actors, operators, and representatives of sports entities to discuss possible regulatory and legislative improvements that contribute to the fair allocation of resources, in line with the principles of equity and good public governance,” he concludes.

He lists the invitees:

*Representative from the National Treasury Secretariat

*National Secretary of High Performance Sports

*Representative from the Office for Centralized Distribution

*Representatives of the main sports betting operators active in Brazil

*Representative from the Brazilian Clubs Committee (CBC)

*Representative from the Brazilian Paralympic Clubs Committee (CBCP)

*Representative from the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB)

*Representative from the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB)

*Representative from the National Confederation of Clubs (FENACLUBES)

*Representative from the Brazilian School Sports Confederation (CBDE)

*Representative from the Brazilian University Sports Confederation (CBDU)

*Representatives from the Brazilian Football, Volleyball, and Basketball Confederations
