Consolidated as one of the main forums for discussion on sports betting and regulation in the country, the CBDJ debuted in November 2024, bringing together around 150 participants, including members of the Executive and Legislative branches, market representatives, academics, and lawyers.
More than 19 speakers took turns in panels on competition law, responsible gaming, betting regulation and taxation, and anti-money laundering, in line with the agenda inaugurated by the Prizes and Betting Secretariat of the Ministry of Finance, whose implementation became mandatory as of January 2025.
The 2025 edition will be dedicated to deepening essential debates for the consolidation of the sector. The program, conducted by GAME’s Events Directorate, will feature panels on the role of the Judiciary and the judicialization of betting, B2B business models, the economic and tax landscape, pending bills, advertising, and regulatory gaps still present.
The proposal is to provide a technical, plural, and evidence-based space, maintaining dialogue between government, academia, and the market.
The CBDJ is an initiative of GAME, a group created in 2024 within the Brazilian Institute of Education, Development and Research (IDP).
With around 180 members across the country, GAME brings together academics, industry professionals, and public authorities with the goal of promoting technical and impartial discussions on sports law, national and international betting regulation, and new business opportunities related to the subject.
