Rubens Barrichello, non-executive director

“SOFTSWISS impresses by combining technology, security and responsible gaming, so present in F1”

At SBC Summit Lisbon 2025, the presence of Rubens Barrichello drew the attention of visitors and partners. The former Formula 1 driver, recognized worldwide for his career on the tracks, now also stands out serving as a non-executive director at SOFTSWISS. Rubinho shared his experience on the connection between technology, security, and digital entertainment in an exclusive interview with GMB, reinforcing his role as an ambassador of innovation in the industry.

SOFTSWISS, in turn, took advantage of the event to strengthen its position as a global leader in the iGaming market. With 15 years of history and a consolidated presence in different markets, the company showcased at the SBC Summit its innovative solutions in platforms, sportsbook, and online casinos, always with a focus on transparency, security, and responsible gaming.

Barrichello’s presence at the brand’s booth symbolized the union between the high-performance world of Formula 1 and cutting-edge technology applied to digital entertainment.

GMB – Rubinho, how are things going with SOFTSWISS? How has this integration between sports technology and the sportsbook/online casino business been?
Rubens Barrichello – It’s been wonderful. I love technology, and I see a lot of similarities with everything I experienced in Formula 1. SOFTSWISS is a very serious company, and when it talks about responsible gaming and the educational tools that the platform offers to clients and users, it really impresses me. I’m thrilled by how much iGaming connects with the technological world of Formula 1.

You lived in the Formula 1 world, where safety was fundamental for a driver’s career. Today, that safety is on a computer screen for the end user. Has SOFTSWISS been able to convey that properly to its partners?
In my opinion, yes. When we talk about safety in racing, it always involves risk, because it’s a dangerous sport. But in gaming, it doesn’t have to be dangerous. So, what is offered to users is really great: beyond technology, there’s the whole aspect of responsible gaming, which is essential.

As a non-executive director at SOFTSWISS, what’s your message to the global gaming market, from a business standpoint?
It’s a very broad business. Many people imagine it’s just about betting, but it goes far beyond that. This technological world, the platforms, and what they offer are incredible. We have almost weekly meetings to discuss how many touchpoints exist between the two worlds. The technological universe of race cars has a lot in common with the world of gaming.

You recently completed one year as a non-executive director at SOFTSWISS. What does that mean to you?
It means a lot. I always thought my world would remain tied to sports. I have my YouTube channel, Acelerados, where I do car tests. I once tried running a restaurant business, but I didn’t adapt.

SOFTSWISS was the result of a thorough study before I accepted the position, and it has turned out to be an experience very much aligned with my universe. These meetings are extremely valuable, and I feel honored to be part of this world.
