“I say goodbye to the IBJR today with a sense of mission accomplished, for having taken the organization to another level with professionalism, tireless dedication and, above all, with the support of the friends I made along the way,” said Fernando Vieira in a farewell letter.
The executive joined IBJR in October 2024 and, since March of this year, had been serving as executive president. He brought to the role his experience across various countries and cultures, as well as a background in highly regulated and complex markets.
Fernando Vieira chose to step down from the presidency in order to work in another professional sector. During the transition, André Gelfi, director and co-founder, will take over leadership on an interim basis.
According to Vieira, the past few months have been particularly rich, given Brazil’s increasingly challenging regulatory environment. Even so, in a short time, IBJR expanded its representation by welcoming new members and associates.
“Together, we began the creation of a new sector, with pioneering regulation, still in a maturing stage, but advancing rapidly. We worked intensively to establish a safe, transparent, and sustainable environment for bettors, and to effectively combat illegal gambling,” said the former president.
“As a grand closing, IBJR is now live with the campaign ‘Chega de Bode na Sala’ (Goats in the Room), which includes a TV commercial, radio spots, airport billboards, and social media actions. The campaign aims to guide bettors in choosing platforms regulated by the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting of the Ministry of Finance.
