According to the law, all public agents are prohibited from using government computers, tablets, cell phones, or any electronic devices to access online gambling platforms, whether for money or goods.
The decree also requires that posters with the law’s content be displayed in all state public offices.
Law banning gambling also applies to personal devices
Non-compliance implies the agent’s liability for the misuse of public property and the improper exercise of their duties.
In addition, the administrative authority of the agency to which the public servant is assigned must initiate an administrative proceeding to investigate the situation, ensuring the right to a full defense and due process.
The law also applies to personal devices, such as private cell phones, tablets, and computers, when used during working hours or for public service activities.
Even in these cases, agents are not allowed to access gambling platforms, reinforcing accountability for the proper use of time and resources dedicated to public functions.

Prohibits public agents from accessing betting, casinos, and any type of online gambling on equipment belonging to public property and within the premises of state agencies in Santa Catarina.
THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF SANTA CATARINA
I hereby inform all inhabitants of this State that the Legislative Assembly decrees and I sanction the following:
Art. 1 – Public agents are prohibited from online access to betting, casinos, or any type of online gambling using equipment belonging to public property, as well as within the premises of public agencies of the State of Santa Catarina
Art. 2 – For the purposes of this Law, betting, casinos, or online gambling are defined as all activities involving wagers of money or goods in virtual games, on any platforms accessible via internet-connected electronic devices.
Art. 3 – Public agents who violate this Law will be held accountable for misuse of public property and for the improper exercise of their functional duties.
Sole Paragraph: The administrative authority of the public agency to which the agent is assigned must initiate an administrative proceeding to investigate their responsibility, ensuring the right to a full defense and due process, as provided by law.
Art. 4 – Posters containing the text of this Law must be displayed in the facilities of state public agencies.
Art. 5 – This Law enters into force on the date of its publication.
