Brasília hosts the 1st National Meeting to Combat Sports Results Manipulation

From September 29th to October 1st, Brasília will be the center of discussions on integrity in sports with the 1st National Meeting to Combat Sports Results Manipulation, held in the auditorium of the Ministry of Sports. The event is sponsored by the Interministerial Working Group (Sports, Finance, Justice, and Public Security) in conjunction with the Federal Police and with technical support from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

The main objective of the meeting is to discuss illegal practices related to sports results manipulation and illegal betting, as well as to strengthen coordination among public agencies for the implementation of the National Policy for Combating Sports Results Manipulation. The initiative seeks to enhance the State’s ability to prevent and repress these crimes, ensuring greater security and integrity in Brazilian sports.

During the three-day event, a specialized agent training program will be presented, aiming to train 54 professionals—one Civil Police delegate and one Federal Police delegate from each federal unit. Participants will receive technical training, access to modern investigative tools, and guidance on best practices to identify and combat cases of results manipulation.

At the event, the Working Group will also launch the Manual for Combating Sports Results Manipulation, which aims to establish guidelines for preventive and repressive action, consolidating technical and methodological knowledge on the subject.

The qualification of state Civil Police and the Federal Police is considered central to consolidating the State’s response to results manipulation. Delegates from all states and the Federal District will participate in workshops, technical debates, and training sessions focused on investigating and repressing sports fraud, emphasizing intelligence techniques, data cross-checking, and the use of advanced technologies to detect suspicious betting activity.

This training program aims to standardize procedures, strengthen interstate cooperation, and enhance the joint performance of security forces, ensuring faster investigation of irregularities and more efficient processing of reports.

The meeting will feature national and international experts who will share experiences and strategies to strengthen the fight against sports manipulation and illegal betting. Topics to be discussed include irregularity investigations, betting monitoring, risk analysis, and integration among the responsible authorities.

The event is organized by the Interministerial Working Group, established by Ordinance No. 01, dated August 25, 2025, bringing together representatives from key federal agencies, including the Ministry of Sport (MEsp), the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, the Ministry of Finance, and the Federal Police, with technical support from the UNODC.

The realization of this event reinforces the Federal Government’s commitment to promoting a more transparent and integral sports environment, aligned with international best practices in governance, oversight, and crime prevention.

Through this initiative, Brazil takes an important step toward consolidating public policies for the prevention of results manipulation, ensuring greater confidence among athletes, clubs, fans, and the regulated betting market.
