Two years ago, CBF created its Integrity Unit, dedicated to fighting crimes in sports betting and safeguarding the fairness of competitions.
“The creation of this division reaffirms our purpose of contributing to initiatives and projects that aim to strengthen the bond of trust between the fans’ passion and the practice of football, always in favor of the uncertainty of results and protecting the transparency and impartiality of competitions,” said Eduardo Gussem, CBF Integrity Officer.
The commitment to fighting match-fixing was one of the topics discussed in July this year during the meeting between president Samir Xaud and the director-general of the Federal Police, Andrei Rodrigues.
“We want to strengthen the fight against match-fixing, alongside all the authorities involved in this monitoring. We want to bring greater transparency to football and put an end to this issue, which severely harms the sport in Brazil and worldwide. Whatever is within our reach, as an institution, we will do to combat match-fixing with absolute rigor,” Xaud said at the time.
