The initiative’s goal is to promote knowledge about the rules in the post-regulation market and to address the legal and regulatory details of sports betting and online gaming in Brazil, as well as to share international best practices that are important for the market’s sustainable growth.
The first virtual meeting in the series “The Rules of the Game Post-Regulation: The Betting Market in Brazil” takes place this Tuesday (9), launching a sequence of debates covering topics such as licensing, taxation, Responsible Gaming, anti-money laundering, consumer protection, social responsibility, and the legal and economic aspects of the sector.
The webinar “How We Got Here” will be held on the 9th at 7:30 p.m., featuring a conversation between Regis Dudena, Secretary of Prizes and Betting at the Ministry of Finance, and Magnho José, President of Instituto Jogo Legal, moderated by Bárbara Teles, Vice President of the Gaming Law Commission of the Brazilian Bar Association, Federal District chapter (OAB/DF).
The OAB/DF initiative comes at a crucial moment: with the recent start of Brazil’s regulated gaming and betting market, the country joins a global multibillion-dollar industry that requires clear rules, effective oversight, and constant dialogue among stakeholders.
For the Section, it is essential that the legal field be prepared to interpret and apply the new legislation in an ethical, technical, and public-interest-oriented manner.
“This is a strategic issue for Brazil’s development. Gaming regulation brings with it complex legal matters with significant economic impact. The OAB/DF Gaming Law Commission understands that it is its role to foster a qualified debate environment to ensure legal certainty and social protection,” says Commission President Fabiano Jantalia.
“Our Gaming Law Commission has been pioneering quality debates since 2021. Our goal with this new webinar cycle is to bring together different perspectives — legal, economic, and social — to deepen understanding of the new regulatory landscape. Regulation is not just a legislative agenda; it is a matter of citizenship, requiring responsibility and information,” adds Bárbara Teles, VP of the Commission.
The webinars are free of charge, broadcast live via Zoom, and will be held every Tuesday. To access the first event, click here.
